The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Sokoto State chapter, has conducted an investiture for Alhaji Ganiyu Mustapha as its 6th chairman.
Delivering his speech on Saturday, the 61st president of ICAN, Malam Haruna Yahaya represented by the northern zonal chairman, Ibrahim Alkali congratulated Ganiyu Mustapha and his new team, urging them to ensure the impact of professional accountancy continue to be felt in Sokoto and beyond.
“ICAN should continue to be a beacon of hope for financial management as we are poised to further position ICAN through digital technology, especially in today’s dynamic world”.
Speaking in his valedictory message, the 5th and outgoing ICAN Chairman of Sokoto, Alhaji Ismaeel Sulaiman said his one year administration has brought significant improvement and recognition to the noble profession in the region.
“We also carried out lots of human capital developments, community interventions, registered a tutored center in Sokoto and Burnin Kebbi, develop a digital hosting site for members to be abreast with global developments in the ICAN culture.
He however added that, his greatest achievement is handing over to a very intelligent successor whom he believes will lift the professional association to an enviable greater heights.
In his acceptance speech, the 6th chairman of Sokoto ICAN, Alhaji Ganiyu Mustapha said he stands on the shoulders of great leaders whom he has been under their tutelage for some time now.
Reeling out parts of his plans for the professional body, Alhaji Ganiyu said, “it is with profound humility and a deep sense of responsibly that I stand before you today to accept my investiture as the 6th Chairman of ICAN Sokoto and District Society”.
On his vision and strategic direction, Ganiyu promised to amongst other things work on professional excellence and capacity development, prioritise members welfare and engagement, encourage students and youths engagement, facilitate stakeholders collaboration and institutional visibility as well as engage in community service and national development
Speaking on his leadership philosophy, Alhaji Ganiyu said he would deploy an inclusive, transparently accountable, and a participatory governance style where all members would have a sense of belonging.
