Sokoto lawmakers ready to support quick passage of social protection policy – Hon Dauda

Sokoto State House of Assembly has pledged to support the quick passage of social protection policy in the state.

Hon. Kabiru Dauda, who is the House Committee Chairman on Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation, noted that the welfare of the people and social inclusiveness is very crucial towards attaining global peace.

Hon. Dauda, disclosed this in Kebbi during a 3 day training workshop organized for stakehokders by The Sokoto State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, in collaboration with the UN Joint SDG Programme, which is geared towards the developmemt of Sokoto State Social Protection Draft Policy.

He added that members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly are committed to contributing their own quota towards the development of the state.

Before declaring the 3 day Social Protection Policy Technical Working Group (TWG) workshop open, the Permanent Secretary, Sokoto State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Umar Arzika Bodinga said the interventions of development partners in Sokoto is highly commendable.

Bodinga also admitted that, UNICEF in Sokoto has been very helpful in transforming the state in diverse ways.

He, however, admitted that, niether the UNICEF, Spotlight Initiative, IHP, UNFPA and the numerous CSOs, NGOs amongst others would not have made the desired impact without the political will of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

“Our governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is a man of impeccable character. He is always ready to support in whatever efforts, programes and policies geared towards the welfare and general wellbeing of the people of Sokoto State”.

Speaking on behalf of the Sultan of Sokoto, the District Head of Kilgori, (Sayin Kilgori) Dr Jabi Kilgori, said the inclusion of tradional rulers was very crucial to attaining the desired goals as according to him, they are the closest to the populace.
