By PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

A chairmanship candidate of the Nigerian Football Association (NFA), Cross River State Chapter, Dr Eric Akpo has attributed the low level of sporting activities in the state to the poor performance of sports administrators.

” We have seen that things are stagnated in terms of sports, there is no motivation, for supporters, there’s no motivation for player’s, no motivation for club owners “

“We just came from a match, and you saw the seats are empty, you saw a visiting team with more fans than the home team to show you how bad it is in terms of sports, people have lost confidence in the game”, Dr. Akpo said on Saturday in an interview with newsmen in Calabar.

According to him, there is something strategically wrong in Cross River State Football Association, there is law of diminishing returns, the present NFA has run out of ideas.

“There’s is need for something new, we need to take back the state in terms of sports development, we need to bring back the state to winning ways , we need to reposition our state .

He appealed to the twenty four delegate to ensure that the state interest come first before any other consideration that has brought the state to its knees since 1999.

It would be recalled that the the current Chairman of the State FA, Pastor Esien Ayi has been in the saddle for over two decades and is still in the race for another term as the state FA Chairman
