Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas
Taraba State Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Barrister Zainab Jalingo, has commended the ongoing grassroots development initiatives across the state’s 16 local government areas, particularly in the education sector, as championed by Governor Agbu Kefas.
She recalled that on February 4, 2026, during a five-day training workshop for permanent secretaries, directors in the state civil service, and newly elected local government council chairmen, the governor directed all council leaders to rehabilitate three basic schools each in line with his free and compulsory education policy.
Our correspondent, while monitoring the implementation of the directive, gathered that massive rehabilitation of public schools and the construction of local roads are currently ongoing at the grassroots level.
The council chairmen have also embarked on the sinking of boreholes to provide potable water, as well as the payment of scholarships to tertiary students.
A tour of Zing, Lau, Takum, Kurmi, and Ardo-Kola local government areas revealed massive ongoing rehabilitation of both primary and secondary schools, alongside active community orientation projects.
Commenting on the development efforts, Jalingo said the governor’s decision to take governance closer to the people was deliberate, aimed at creating visible impact and ensuring that residents feel the presence of government in their communities.
She added that the governor has already released funds to the council chairmen and is prepared to double project financing to further strengthen education, infrastructure, and healthcare delivery at the local level.
“His Excellency has publicly instructed the local government council chairmen to go and embark on the projects that are in line with his five-point agenda.
“Everybody is aware that His Excellency has taken education so dear to his administration.
“The construction of infrastructure such as roads, the healthcare system, and security are the basics at the heart of the governor.
“The council chairmen are also doing well to complement the aims of the administration.
“At the end of the day, the people of Taraba will not regret voting for the governor in the 2023 election.
“The governor is determined to provide more funds for grassroots development for the benefit of the entire people of Taraba State,” Jalingo stated.
