Former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami
Kebbi State Police Command has launched an investigation into a violent assault on the convoy of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, September 1, 2025.
According to reports, the attack occurred as Malami, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on July 2, 2025, was returning from a condolence visit in the state capital.
Following an emergency security meeting with state officials, Kebbi State Police Commissioner Bello Sani confirmed, “We have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made so far.”
He noted that the governor called the meeting to address recent security concerns.
Sani revealed that the attack, which took place in the GRA area, involved political party members and was linked to violations of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) campaign regulations.
“We will summon political party leaders to caution them against further breaches of electoral guidelines,” Sani stated, emphasizing measures to curb escalating tensions ahead of the 2027 elections.
The commissioner urged political figures to maintain calm and promote peace to ensure stability in Kebbi State.
