
Nigerian Army troops
Nigerian Army has apprehended one of its own, Lance Corporal Saifullahi Garba (14NA/72/15972), for alleged gunrunning in Borno State, while recent operations across the country led to the rescue of eight kidnap victims and the recovery of significant arms caches.
A reliable source from Army Headquarters, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, September 1, 2025, in Abuja, revealed that Garba was arrested in Marte Local Government Area with 711 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
“Preliminary investigations indicate he was stockpiling ammunition from clearance operations to supply terrorists,” the source stated.
Garba has been handed over to authorities for further action.
In Bama, Borno State, troops intercepted a terrorist logistics operation, recovering 379 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Additionally, ambushes in Borno and Yobe States resulted in one terrorist neutralized, with two AK-47 rifles, 11 rounds of ammunition, and other items seized.
In the North-Central region, troops under Operation Whirl Stroke rescued three additional kidnap victims in Nasarawa, following the earlier rescue of five others.
The operation also recovered 579 rustled cattle and two AK-47 rifles from armed herdsmen linked to attacks in Taraba.
In the South-South, Operation Delta Safe troops arrested 10 armed suspects in Rivers State disguised in OSPAC uniforms. The source noted, “We seized five pump-action rifles, locally made guns, charms, mobile phones, and ₦1.7 million in cash.”
A separate raid in Ahoada East neutralized two cult leaders.
“These operations underscore the army’s commitment to curbing terrorism, criminality, and internal betrayal while maintaining vigilance nationwide,” the source affirmed.
