Suspect arrested by Army's troops in Adamawa
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside local vigilantes and hunters, have eliminated a senior commander of Boko Haram and arrested a suspected logistics and drone supplier in Madagali, Adamawa State.
Security sources disclosed that the operation took place on Thursday evening when troops intercepted suspected insurgents along the Visik River axis at about 5:30 p.m.
During the encounter, one of the terrorists, identified as Abdullahi Mafa, a former hybrid commander operating in the area, was neutralised after a brief exchange of gunfire.
Barely an hour later, at around 6:30 p.m., the troops carried out a follow-up raid at Madagali Motor Park, where they arrested 64-year-old Dauda Usman Gubula, believed to be a key collaborator and supplier of surveillance equipment to insurgents.
Items recovered from the suspect included two aerial drones and 20 solar-powered power banks, which security officials say were intended to support terrorist operations in remote locations.
The arrested suspect is currently in custody and undergoing detailed interrogation, while investigations continue to unravel his network and possible links to other insurgent cells.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations across the region, stressing that the ongoing campaign is aimed at dismantling remaining terrorist structures and restoring lasting peace in northeastern Nigeria.
They also commended the support of local communities, noting that collaboration with residents has continued to play a vital role in intelligence gathering and successful counterterrorism efforts.
