Troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled a major attack by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Bitta, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State.
The assault took place around 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, with insurgents approaching from the Damboa axis, according to a statement from the Nigerian Army.
In a post on its official X account, the Army reported that the attackers briefly penetrated the outer perimeter but were quickly overwhelmed after intense combat with troops.
Several terrorists were neutralized, and the military recovered AK-47 rifles along with other weapons and ammunition.
No soldiers were harmed during the encounter.
On Sunday, July 27, the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, conducted an on-site assessment in Bitta, accompanied by senior military officers.
The GOC directed an immediate reinforcement of troops and heightened operational vigilance to secure the area.
The Army noted that while the security situation in Bitta and surrounding areas remains stable, it is unpredictable.
Troops continue to maintain high morale and combat readiness. Operation HADIN KAI remains the Nigerian military’s primary counterterrorism and counterinsurgency effort in the North East.
