Two killed as fire razes over 500 houses in Gajiganna Town, Borno

No fewer than two persons have been killed following a fire outbreak that razed over 500 houses in Gajiganna Town in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

The cause of the fire incident, which occured on Thursday evening remain unknown according to the residents.

The Executive Chairman of Maguneri LG Council, Engr. Ali Yaumi, on Friday paid a sympathy visit to the victims of fire outbreak and to assess the extent of damage with a view to assist the victims.

It was disclosed to the Chairman during the sympathy and assessment visit of the town that over 500 houses were razed down while two lives were lost to the fire disaster and two others sustained severe burns and are currently receiving treatment in hospital in Gajiganna town.

During the visit, the Chairman prayed for the soul of the deceased and asked Allah for protection to avert future occurrence while urging the victims to exercise caution.

The Chairman while acknowledging the support and cooperation of the people, also appreciated the gallant efforts of the Nigerian Army Command based in Gajiganna, town for restoring peace in the area and its environs.

He however directed for immediate investigation of the fire disaster and to ascertain the extent of destruction caused by the inferno.

He further promised to inform the state government about the incident for prompt intervention.

The Chairman supported the victims with some cash to cushion their immediate hardship.

Dr. Yaumi was accompanied by the Special Adviser to His Excellency, Hon. Bukar Bussami; the APC State Executive, Hon. Mallam Bulin; Hon. Goni Kundube; the Council Secretary, Ali Lawan Kyari; Directors; APC party Chairman, Kaka Muhammad; DPO of the Council; and other critical stakeholders of the council.
