Sen. Aliyu Wamakko APC-Sokoto North, alongside Sen. Adamu Aliero and Sen. Ahmad Sani, had condoled with the family of late Amb. Shehu Malami, the Sarkin Sudan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, who died on Monday at a hospital in Cairo, Egypt was buried on Thursday in Sokoto.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday by Bashar Abubakar, the Special Assistant on New Media to Wamakko.
Abubakar quoted Aliero, who spoke on behalf of the other Senators as describing the deceased as a true nationalist who spent his entire life in preaching peace, unity and the propagation of Islam.
“The nation has lost a leader and a hero who loved the people at heart,” the lawmaker said.
Aliero said that as a member of the royal family, he left a huge gap that would be very difficult to fill.
The Senator prayed the Almighty Allah to forgive all the sins of the deceased and reward him with Jannatul Firdaus as a final abode.
A special prayer was offered by Malam Bashir Gidan-Kanawa for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
Similarly, APC gubernatorial candidate in Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu has condoled with the family of the late Sarkin Sudan.
Aliyu described the deceased as a leader and father who died while struggling for his nation, Nigeria. (NAN)
