Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo
Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity, declaring that no part of the state will be abandoned to bandits, kidnappers, or any other criminal groups.
The governor made the declaration while inspecting newly procured vehicles and security equipment at the Government House in Lokoja. He stressed that safeguarding lives and property remains one of the foremost responsibilities of his administration.
According to Ododo, security is not only essential for public safety but also serves as the foundation for sustainable economic growth and development.
He disclosed that recent security briefings with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu further strengthened his resolve to confront criminal activities across the state, adding that the Federal Government’s support has reinforced ongoing efforts to restore and maintain peace.
The governor noted that he has personally visited communities affected by security challenges, including Iluke, to obtain first-hand assessments of the situation rather than relying solely on reports.
As part of measures to boost security operations, Ododo announced the deployment of specialized equipment, including Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and other protective vehicles, to enhance the capacity of security agencies in responding to emerging threats.
He maintained that his administration would not enter into negotiations with bandits or other criminal elements, insisting that government must remain firm in confronting those responsible for threatening public peace.
Ododo reiterated his determination to work with security agencies to reclaim every part of the state from criminal activities and ensure lasting peace for residents.
The governor assured citizens that his administration would continue to invest in security infrastructure and provide the necessary support for law enforcement agencies to effectively carry out their duties across the state.
