By PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has commenced the door to door political evangelism tagged “Operation Get Your Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC)” across the 3281 polling units in the state.
The Cross River State Chairman of APC, Alphonsus Ogar, disclosed during the weekend while addressing newsmen at the party secretariat in Calabar.
Mr. Ogar said the exercise will also take place at the 196 electoral wards to ensure that the state record high turn out in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said the exercise is targeted at those who are yet to register irrespective of political affiliation.
The APC Chairman commended the party for the concluded governorship primaries that produced Senator Bassey Otu from the Southern Senatorial District in the spirit of equity and justice.
He noted that with the end of the primaries, the party is set for victory with the candidacy of Senator Bassey Otu, whom he described as the man of the people.
“We are happy that the back to South movement has been accepted by all stakeholders from all part of Cross River State”.
He said in 1999, the South produced Donald Duke, in 2007, the Central produced Liyel Imoke and in 2015, produced Senator Ben Ayade. So it is natural that the governorship should go back to the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State.
The party chairman, however, commended Senator Ben Ayade for keeping faith with his promised to return power back to the Southern Senatorial District, while describing him as a promised keeper.
