Former Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda
All inclusive administration and other socially-uplifting programmes of former Gov. Isa Yuguda in Bauchi State, qualified him for the national chairmanship position of the All Progressives Party (APC).
Alhaji Abubakar Abdulkadir, a Political Aide to Yuguda, made the assertions on Saturday while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
“Part of what has made my boss (Yuguda) a very good sell among all the ethnic groups and nationalities in the party is that his tenure as governor is still well-reputed for its audacious non-indigene policy among other socially-uplifting programmes.
“These turned Bauchi State into a home for persons from diverse backgrounds and persuasions.
“His administration abolished contract appointments for Nigerians from other states, who were literally handed permanent and pensionable appointments as well as political appointments in the state,” Abdulkadir said.
He added that Yuguda, fondly called the “architect of modern Bauchi State” brought several developmental strides and initiatives to the state.
According to him, these include water-tight security of lives and property, the Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi State University at Gadau, anong others.
“Yuguda’s feat is emotionally touched and overwhelmed by the open show of appreciation by the people he served,” Abdulkadir said.
He said that some political groups drummed unflinching supports for Yuguda because of his feat that significantly touched lives when he was Minister of State for Transport from 2003 to 2005 and as Minister of Aviation from 2003 to 2005.
“My boss has not started printing any poster yet, the posters making the rounds were voluntarily printed and pasted by the South-based community groups and associations of fanatical fans, supporters and loyalists.
“They believe to be working for former Bauchi State Governor, who positively touched lives when he was Minister of State for Transport from 2003 to 2005 and as Minister of Aviation from 2003 to 2005.”
Abdulkadir said that other Northern-based groups have also communicated their unflinching supports to the former governor through emissaries, letters, phone calls and messages.
“They have sought permission to kick-start a series of show-stopping activities to drum up supports and fully key into the groundswell of solidarity and goodwill for the former governor,” he said. (NAN)
