One of Nigeria’s popular gospel singers, Sammie Okposo, is reported to have died today at the age of 51.
There was no official confirmation as to the cause and circumstances of the reported death of Okposo, who was also a music producer, psalmist, and CEO of Zamar Entertainment.
Sources within the nation’s entertainment circles however suggested that he may have slumped and died on Friday morning in Lagos.
Besides wellu-wellu, which was a hit in the 90s, Okposo’s other popular songs included Na Only You I Know, the glory is Here, A Marvelous thing, sing Halleluyah, Naija Praise, too Good to Be True and, I have Never Seen God Change.
Sammie as also admired by many for his ability to lead worship sessions during concerts.
The news about his demise will come as a rude shock to many Nigerians who are still mourning the demise of Ifeanyi, the son of superstar musician, Davido.
