An interactive meeting by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) aimed at introducing Principal Officers of the newly established upgraded and adopted universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education to the proper admission procedure into their different institutions was on Monday held in Abuja.
Speaking at the occasion, the Registrar JAMB, Professor Ishaq said the purpose of the interactive session was to introduce them into proper method of admission using the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and the operations of the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS)
The meeting was organized to also let them know what to do within the stringent guidelines of the board guiding admission.
While guiding them through the procedure, the Registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, also warned the heads of institutions that illegal admissions would not be tolerated.
“JAMB deemed it fit to hold an interactive session to introduce you to the regulatory framework guiding admission processing on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and also the operations of the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS)”
‘”For the benefit of institutions that are entirely new: the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), created in 2017, is an automated system of processing admissions. This system ensures transparency, fairness and inclusiveness”.
“The Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS), created in 2018 is a system where institutions prescribe their specific entry requirements and candidates are guided, through the eligibility checker for intended programmes before registration.6. It is gratifying to report that JAMB has since 1st of January 2023, upgraded both its CAPS and IBASS to serve as communication platforms (CAPS mail and IBASS mail respectively) with regulatory agencies and tertiary institutions”.
According to him, the system ensures transparency, fairness inclusiveness, and also eliminates multiple admissions by expanding admission opportunities for Candidates by Providing credible, easily retrievable data for planning purposes and minimizes human errors.
“It is gratifying to report that JAMB has since 1st of January 2023, upgraded both its CAPS and IBASS to serve as communication platforms (CAPS mail and IBASS mail respectively) with regulatory agencies and tertiary institutions. The CAPS mail is for admission related matters with the institution while the IBASS is for other matters, institutions and programmes upload and editing.
He said that with the facility, JAMB ceased to receive any communication on paper from any of the 3 sister regulatory agencies and the institutions.
” This meeting is also to outline proper procedure for recruiting candidates for the 2025 admission (and for 2024, for those of you whose commencement date was 2024). This is because some of your institutions might not have been part of the choices available to the candidates during 2025 (and 2024 too) UTME/DE registration. The stratification of the invited institutions are:a) 15 Federal Colleges of Education recently accorded the dual mandate”, he added.
“JAMB is prepared to render all the necessary support to all your institutions to ensure that you comply strictly with the stated rules to be able to accommodate prospective candidates”.
