In his inaugural speech on May 29, 2019, Governor Abdullahi Sule, emphasized his commitment to peace and security, highlighting it as a foundation for development.
He explicitly appealed to all citizens to work together to achieve peace and prosperity, calling for a collaborative effort to drive the state’s progress and development.
No doubt, Governor Sule’s six-years in office as the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, has been marked by remarkable achievements, particularly in promoting peace and development.
His commitment to peace has been a hallmark of his leadership, creating a conducive environment for growth and investment.
During his first term, from 29th May 2019 to 29th May 2023, he successfully maintained peace, laying a solid foundation for development.
In his second term, Governor Sule has built upon this foundation, attracting industries and investments to the state. This has not only boosted the local economy but also provided opportunities for citizens in the area of employment.
No wonder, President Tinubu, commended Governor Sule, for the peace, stability and progress in Nasarawa State, during his recent one day working visit to the state in June, this year. He commended him for his efforts in promoting peace in the state, noting that it had enabled the government to channel resources effectively towards development.
Governor Sule’s peacebuilding efforts have also had a positive impact on the state’s social fabric, promoting unity and cohesion. His peace initiatives have also had a positive impact on the state’s reputation, making it an attractive destination for investors and tourists alike.
The Governor’s vision for a peaceful and prosperous Nasarawa State is inspiring, and his leadership has been instrumental in making this vision a reality. His commitment to peace and development has earned him recognition beyond Nasarawa State, with many regarding him as a leader who gets results.
Similarly, the Governor’s peace initiatives have also had a positive impact by promoting religious harmony in such a multi lingua and multi religious state.
In addition to this, his profound knowledge of the Holy Bible and the Glorious Quran,, has been instrumental in fostering peace among Christians and Muslims in Nasarawa State. His ability to quote from both scriptures has helped him connect with citizens from diverse religious backgrounds.
By referencing biblical and Quranic teachings, Governor Sule effectively promotes unity, tolerance, and understanding, driving home his points in a way that resonates with people of different faiths. This approach has contributed significantly to the peaceful coexistence of various religious groups in the state.
By so doin, the Governor, has demonstrated remarkable leadership in promoting religious harmony among Christians, Muslims, and traditional worshipers in Nasarawa State. Despite occasional security challenges, he has maintained a peaceful environment, fostering unity and cooperation.
The Governor’s commitment to peace is evident in his efforts to support security agencies. He has distributed operational vehicles to enhance their effectiveness in maintaining law and order.
By maintaining peace and stability, Governor Sule has created an environment conducive to business growth and investment for the present and future generations of the state.
One of the commendable efforts of the Governor, in the area of peace building is the prompt resolution of the crisis between two communities of Odu and Embu, in Udege development area of the state over mining site.
He convened meetings and attended a submit where he appealed to the warring factions to sheath their swords and give peace a chance, especially with current developments in Udege, with mining activities taking centre stage.
“You are blessed with resources. Everywhere, people are talking about processing lithium. Yet, it is embarrassing to the nation that two brothers who have coexisted peacefully are now fighting, killing innocent people among them. You cannot allow political differences to make you disrespect your leaders”
“No investor would venture into an area where there is no peace. Nasarawa State will do everything within its means to support peace. As long as there is peace, opportunities will arise. For instance, one of the companies coming to Afo land, Gangfeng, can employ 4,000 to 5,000 people. But that cannot happen in the absence of peace” he said.
Notably, one of the most striking achievements of the Governor’s tenure, spanning over six years, is the unprecedented peace and stability that has pervaded the state. Unlike others, this state has been remarkably free from the usual fault lines of conflict, including religious, ethnic, and farmer-herder crises, underscoring the Governor’s effective leadership and commitment to fostering a harmonious coexistence among diverse groups.

Given his achievements in the area of peace, Governor Abdullahi Sule, indeed deserves commendation and a ‘Peace Award’ for his tireless efforts in promoting peace and development in Nasarawa State.
