Chaos after Nigeria defeated Algeria in AFCON Quarter Final match
Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched an investigation into alleged misconduct during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 quarter-final clashes involving Nigeria vs Algeria and Cameroon vs Morocco.
CAF confirmed that recent match reports and video evidence point to “potentially unacceptable behaviour” from certain players and officials during the fixtures.
It said the matters have been referred to CAF’s Disciplinary Board, which will determine appropriate sanctions if any individuals are found guilty of wrongdoing.

In addition, CAF said it is reviewing footage of an incident involving media personnel who reportedly misbehaved in the mixed zone area, signaling the organization’s commitment to maintaining professional conduct both on and off the pitch.
“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers. Appropriate actions will be sought against anyone whose behaviour is not consistent with professional conduct at CAF events,” the statement read.
The move underscores CAF’s zero-tolerance stance on unsportsmanlike conduct, aiming to preserve the integrity of Africa’s premier football competition.
