A youth-based political mobilisation platform, the All Kanuri Youths Renewed Hope Agenda (AKYRHA), has been officially launched in Maiduguri, with organisers setting an ambitious target of delivering 10 million votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.
The group, inaugurated on Sunday, said it had already raised over three million naira at the launch event, which is aimed at galvanising support for the Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima joint ticket across the 19 northern states and strengthening the party’s grassroots structure.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of AKYRHA, Hon. Aji Ali Kolo Gujja, who also holds the traditional title of Matawalle of Bama Emirate Council, urged members to remain committed and united in pursuit of the group’s objectives.
He advised youths “to be united, firm and dedicated to their mobilization efforts,” while warning against actions that could derail the mission.
Gujja further charged members “not be disappoint the support group and commit themselves to their assigned responsibilities,” stressing the need to shun violence, disunity and greed, and to uphold discipline in their activities.
The chairman pledged continued moral and financial backing for the initiative, assuring members of sustained guidance to achieve their vision of supporting the Tinubu/Shettima ticket and securing victory in 2027.
He also disclosed that following the party’s forthcoming congress or convention, full-scale mobilisation across the northern region would commence.
“In few weeks to come, the party congress or convention will held and immediately, mobilization work across the 19 states of the North will commence fully,” he said.
APC Stakeholders Back Initiative
The launch, held at Town Grill Pizza Hotel in Maiduguri, attracted key APC stakeholders and political figures linked to the Office of the Vice President.
Among those present were Hon. Mahmud Muhammad, Personal Assistant on Domestic Affairs to the Vice President, who serves as Patron of the group; Hon. Usman Zanna, member representing Kaga, Magumeri and Gubio Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on North East Development Commission (NEDC), also a Patron; and Alhaji Abatcha Kadai Wulgo, APC State Treasurer in Borno, who was named Director General of the mobilisation group.
Speakers at the event expressed optimism about the platform’s potential, pledging continued support while urging members to act as responsible ambassadors.
Hon. Usman Zanna revealed that consultations were ongoing to expand the reach of the platform, noting that more high-profile APC stakeholders were aligning with the initiative.
He said the group would soon begin coordinated outreach across northern states to boost support for the APC ticket.
Hon. Mahmud Muhammad said groundwork had already begun across the region, describing the platform as a key support structure for the 2027 presidential race.
“After next week national convention of the party, the platform will commence campaigns and mobilization in earnest,” Mahmud said.
He called on eligible voters, particularly youths, to take ownership of the process and work towards the party’s success.
Mahmud also pledged “full and intensive mobilization of votes for the success and victory of the APC candidates in all elective positions come 2027.”
Commitment to Nationwide Outreach
Various speakers at the event reaffirmed their commitment to the group’s objectives, stressing that Kanuri communities are spread across the country and would play a strategic role in the mobilisation drive.
They vowed to carry out campaigns “without fear or favour neither discrimination,” while also working on a comprehensive report highlighting achievements under the current administration for public engagement.
The ceremony featured the presentation of nomination letters to newly appointed board members of AKYRHA, alongside the symbolic launch of the platform. Other highlights included a cake-cutting session, cultural displays, and group photographs.
Organisers say the initiative marks the beginning of a broader political mobilisation effort ahead of the 2027 general elections.
