Chairman of the Northern Christian Association (NCA), Reverend Dr. Joseph Hayab, has commended the Founder of World Assembly Ministries, Reverend Isaac Omolehin, for providing financial support that enabled the construction of emergency tents and toilets for nine heads of households displaced from the Shuwari Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The Shuwari camp, which has served as a refuge for mostly Christian IDPs from Gwoza Local Government Area for several years, is situated on the premises of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria (Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria – E.Y.N.).
Following recent developments at the camp, some displaced families who had been accommodated in residential buildings within the church premises were asked to vacate the structures despite the ongoing rainy season, leaving many without shelter.
Hayab explained that after informing Reverend Omolehin of the situation, the cleric immediately released funds to provide temporary accommodation by erecting tents and constructing toilets for the affected families.
The intervention is the latest in a series of humanitarian efforts by Reverend Omolehin. Earlier this year, he supported the rehabilitation of damaged boreholes at the Jerusalem IDPs Camp in Maiduguri through the Northern Christian Association, restoring access to clean drinking water for residents.
Speaking in an interview, Hayab attributed the latest intervention to the support received from the founder of World Assembly Ministries.
“This intervention came from the support his Association got from Rev Isaac Omolehin the founder of the Word Assembly Ministries in Ilorin, Kwara State Nigeria.”
He also praised the E.Y.N. Church for its longstanding commitment to displaced persons, noting that it had sheltered thousands of IDPs and their families over the past decade while providing temporary housing for some heads of households.
“I really appreciated and commend Rev Omolehin for his support which has brought relief to displaced IDPs and their children who were asked to vacate the temporary houses/accommodation provided to them by E.Y.N Church in this camp,” Hayab stated.
The NCA chairman called on churches, Christian faithful and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture by extending support to vulnerable people.
He said: “In situation like this, a careful giver should not wait or think to donate millions, but a little donations would go along way in touching lives of the vulnerable groups in the society.”
Hayab pledged that the association would continue to provide humanitarian assistance to displaced Christians across Northern Nigeria.
He said the association, under his leadership, would not relent in its efforts to ensure that vulnerable families in IDP camps across the region continue to receive support.
During the allocation and handover of the facilities, the Secretary-General of the Northern Christian Association and Founder/Overseer of Pentecostal Believers Covenant Church (PBCC) in Nigeria, Bishop Mohammed Naga, also commended Reverend Omolehin for his consistent concern for vulnerable communities.
According to him: “I saw Christ like heart of love in Rev. Isaac Omolehin towards Northerners.
“We also thank Rev. Hayab for his commitment, dedication and accountability in helping Northern Christians at all times.”
Some of the beneficiaries also expressed appreciation, saying the intervention came at a critical time when many families had been left without shelter during the rainy season.
One of the displaced persons, Mr. Barka Moses, said the timely support had restored hope to affected families.
“The prompt erection of tents and toilets by Omolehin through NCA leadership to the displaced families at this critical period of the rainy season is a welcome development aims to lives in this camp.”
