Embattled governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, announced on Tuesday he was quitting the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obaseki was elected governor on the platform of the APC, a party that disqualified him at the weekend from seeking a second term in office on its platform.

The governor made this known during a chat with State House Correspondents in Abuja after he met with President Muhammadu Bhuari.
Although he said he would disclose his next step in a couple of days, Obaseki is however believed to working of a number of options, including pitching his political tent with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was not immediately clear what Edo governor and President Buhari discussed, but the visit to the Aso Rock villa may have been prompted by the need to brief the President on the recent developments within the Edco APC.
