
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visit to the state during the recent pogrom in Yelwata town, Guma Local Government Area.
The governor also welcomed the President’s assurance to collaborate with the state government to develop a framework for achieving lasting peace in the state.
In a statement, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, said, “We deeply appreciate your commitment to addressing the security challenges we face, particularly your directive to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Inspector General of Police.”
The governor commended the President’s decisive action to neutralize threats posed by armed herders, reassuring the people of Benue that their safety and the return of farmers to their lands are priorities for the administration.
Governor Alia also appreciated his fellow governors, particularly the Progressive Governors Forum led by Hope Uzodinma, for standing in solidarity with Benue State during this challenging time.
“Their collective efforts demonstrated a united front against violence, and a shared commitment to the well-being of communities across the country,” the statement read.
The Governor assured the people of Benue that he would continue to work with all stakeholders to rebuild and restore peace in the state.
