Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno

All is now set for the grand reception of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno into the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a historic event scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Eno, elected on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 stunned thousands of his supporters and indeed many stakeholders when he announced his defection to the APC on June 6.
He has vowed to control the PDP structure while remaining in APC and has directed commissioners to resign or defect with him.
So far, two top officials, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Comrade Ini Ememobong and the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Prince Chris Abasi Eyo, have thrown in the towel by resigning their appointments.
According to the chairman, media and publicity committee, Aniekan Umanah, the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, will formally receive Governor Umo Eno and his team into the party, following an official presentation by the Akwa Ibom State APC Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo.
The event will be graced by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will officially welcome Governor Eno into the progressive fold.
Umanah, who is the Commissioner for Information, said Senator Godswill Akpabio is also expected as the chief host, adding that his presence will further underscore the spirit of unity and political alignment between Akwa Ibom State and the Federal Government.
” This moment marks a significant milestone in fostering collaboration for the progress and prosperity of the State, ” Umanah stated in a statement.
Other dignitaries expected include members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, the APC National Working Committee, senior party chieftains, and key political stakeholders from across the country.
“The APC warmly invites traditional rulers, political leaders, women and youth groups, and all citizens and residents of Akwa Ibom State to be part of this historic celebration.
