
Lawmaker representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Midala Usman Balami, has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development, party growth, and effective representation following a strategic meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Maiduguri.
Speaking during the meeting held at the APC State Secretariat, Dr. Balami said his constituency projects and interventions are carefully aligned with the long-term development vision of Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, particularly within the state’s 25-year development framework.
According to the federal lawmaker, his focus areas include education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and humanitarian support aimed at improving the lives of constituents across Askira-Uba and Hawul Local Government Areas.
*Balami Donates ₦20 Million to Strengthen APC*
As part of efforts to strengthen party structures at the grassroots, Dr. Balami announced a financial support of ₦20 million to boost APC activities within the constituency.
He explained that the donation was in fulfillment of his responsibility to support party organization and mobilization efforts.
The lawmaker assured party leaders of his unwavering commitment to the success of the APC across Askira-Uba and Hawul, stressing that service delivery to the people remains his primary focus.

Dr. Balami also outlined his legislative footprint at the National Assembly, revealing that he has sponsored 10 people-oriented bills and moved over 14 motions addressing key national and constituency concerns.
Among the notable bills sponsored by the lawmaker include:
*HB 279 (2023): Establishment of a Federal College of Science and Health Technology, Askira-Uba, aimed at expanding access to healthcare education.
*HB 280 (2023): Establishment of a Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, Hawul, designed to strengthen the health workforce and reduce maternal and infant mortality.
*HB 1797 (2024): Federal College of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, Hawul, to promote youth empowerment and job creation.
*HB 1798 (2024): Federal College of Fisheries and Apiculture, Askira-Uba, to enhance food security and agricultural development.
The lawmaker also sponsored several motions addressing urgent needs within the constituency, including:
-Motion seeking urgent security measures to curb killings and attacks in Sabon Gari, Kelle, Dille, Lassa, and Mussa communities.
-Motion addressing challenges faced by students writing JAMB and WAEC/SSCE examinations in Mussa, Dille, and Lassa communities.
-Motion for the establishment of Vocational and Sports Centres in Askira-Uba and Hawul to promote youth empowerment and skills development.
-Motion calling for urgent rehabilitation of the Biu–Garkida–Gombi Road serving the constituency.
Earlier, the APC Chairman, Hon. Bello Ayuba, commended Dr. Balami for what he described as outstanding representation, noting that the party had monitored his performance even before his formal defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Party leaders described his defection and financial support as a significant boost to the APC’s strength and outreach within the constituency and across the state.
They expressed confidence that his experience, projects, and legislative contributions would further strengthen the party’s performance in Askira-Uba/Hawul.
Those present at the meeting included Deputy State Chairman, Alhaji Garba Mulima; State Secretary, Barrister Mustapha Loskuri; Assistant Secretary, Alhaji Musa Dogo; Zonal Chairman Central, Alhaji Abdul Kareem Abdulrahman; Zonal Chairman North, Alhaji Mustapha Gadobe; and State Women Leader, Hajiya Zara Mohammed.
Others were Deputy Women Leader, Hajiya Rakiya Galadima; Organising Secretary, Alhaji Tukur Shani; State Legal Adviser, Barrister Babashehu Zanna; Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Mamman; State Treasurer, Alhaji Goni Abatcha Kadai; Welfare Officer, Mallam Bulin; Financial Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Bulama; and Youth Leader, Abdulrahman Musa.
Party stakeholders noted that Dr. Balami’s contributions and legislative efforts are expected to further accelerate development and strengthen political coordination across Askira-Uba and Hawul Federal Constituency.
