Keffi Old Boys Association (KOBA), Government College, Keffi, Nasarawa State has said arrangements have reached advanced to raise N300million for the development of the college.
The association said the fund-raising would be held during its Annual General Meeting and Cheetah Awards Night on February 2022.
Alhaji Umar Shittu, the Nasarawa State President of KOBA made this known during the State chapter congress held in Lafia on Friday.
Shittu said the move was aimed at giving the premier institution a lifeline.
He said that the N300milliom when raised would provide infrastructure and enabling environment for teaching and learning as well as enhance the quality of education in the school.
“Our National AGM/ Cheetah Awards night is coming up by from 24 Feb. to 26 Feb., 2022, and will hold in Govt. College Keffi, while the award night will be in Abuja.
“During the AGM/Cheetah Awards Nights, we will launch N300million for the development of the school.
“And distinguished personalities, who have contributed positively to the development of the school will be given prestigious awards,” he said.
Shittu urged members of the association to continue to contribute to the development of their alma mater.
“I want to urge all of us to give no matter how small to the development of the school.
“Let’s continue to give back to the school what the school has made us,” he said
Shittu, an architect by profession, called on their members and other personalities to support the association to ensure a successful AGM.
Besides, the state president of KOBA commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for constructing the school road and other interventions aimed at improving the standard of education in the school.
He also commended Mr Andrew Adamu, the Deputy Governor of CBN for his positive contributions in the area of infrastructural development among others in the school.
“We also commend the contributions of Hon. John Osewu of Doma South constituency and Hon. Mohammed Omadefu of Keana constituency members at the state legislature for being up and doing in ensuring the development of the school.
“We also want to appreciate other individuals and sets for their contributions to the development of the college,” he said.
On his part, the National Secretary of KOBA, Mr Sam Israel commended the State lawmakers and local government chairmen and other members for taking their time to attend the meeting.
He expressed delight at the large turnout of people and urged them to sustain the spirit.
Members of KOBA such as Mr John Osewu (APC- Doma South), Mr Mohammed Omadefu ( APC-Keana), members at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Muhammad Baba Shehu, Arch. Ahmed Sarki Usman, the Executive Chairmen of Keffi and Doma Local Government Areas, also assured of their support to the school.
They also called on members of the association to continue to contribute positively to the development of the school. (NAN)
