In a remarkable display of law enforcement efficiency, the Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended 748 suspected criminals across 394 cases between March 28, 2025, and August 20, 2025.
The arrests, spanning various crimes, mark a significant milestone in the state’s fight against criminality.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu, who assumed office on March 28, 2025, credited the success to the command’s professionalism, effective intelligence gathering, and commitment to duty.
During this period, the police recovered stolen items, including vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles (Keke Napep), high-end smartphones, and plasma television sets.
Among the notable achievements, the command recorded 57 armed robbery cases with 113 arrests, 78 culpable homicide cases with 171 suspects detained, and 44 cases of rape and indecent assault leading to 72 arrests. Additionally, seven suspects were apprehended in four kidnapping cases, and 106 individuals were arrested in 117 cases of fraud and false pretense.
A high-profile case involved Abdulkadir Garba, who was robbed at his residence on July 12, 2025. The robbers stole a Samsung S23 smartphone (N1.2 million), an iPhone 14 Pro Max (N1.4 million), a Techno Android phone (N380,000), and an HP Spectre 360 laptop (N1.2 million). They also coerced Garba into transferring N3.3 million to a Monie Point bank account. Swift police action led to the arrest of nine suspects linked to the crime, with investigations ongoing.
Other cases under investigation include two instances of mischief by fire, two cases of currency forgery, nine breaches of public peace involving 29 suspects, and 54 arrests related to car theft and breach of trust.
While details of convictions remain undisclosed, CP Aliyu emphasized the command’s dedication to sustaining these efforts, ensuring Bauchi remains a safer state for all residents.
