By EDDY OCHIGBO, Kaduna –

A bomb has exploded, in Kabala West, a suburb of Kaduna in the wee hours of Monday.

Community Leader of Kabala West Alhaji Badamsi Salisu told NATIONAL ACCORD that the incident occurred at Dorino Hotel, a popular spot in the area.

“The bomb exploded in the early hours of today”, he said, adding that “no life was lost, but there was structural damage to the hotel and neighbouring houses.”

Wale Adedoyin Olawale Saidu, son of the owner of the hotel, who also confirmed the incident, said the bomb was from the hall of the hotel where customers relax.

“There was no casualty because the hotel was not in operation as at the time of the blast. We were complying with the notice from Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Agency (KASUPDA) to stop business activities in the hotel until we regularize our papers from residential to business activities,” he said.

Wale Adedoyin said another Improvised Explosive Device was discovered before it detonated at Future View Hotel, Ungwan Romi New Extension, earlier – before the one at Dorino Hotel exploded – which according to him, was late Sunday night.

All efforts to reach Police Spokesperson of Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige for his reaction to what appears to be a new phenomenon in the state, were unsuccessful as he didn’t respond to calls and text messages put across to his number as at the time of filling this report.
