
Borno State First Lady, Falmata Zulum

Borno State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in collaboration with Her Excellency Dr. Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum, the First Lady of Borno State, celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with the launching of distribution of empowerment items to persons with disabilities.
The event which took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Government House, Maiduguri, Tuesday witnessed the distribution of empowerment items to 400 persons with disabilities included both male and female youths and children
The Borno State First Lady officially launched the distribution of the empowerment items to 400 persons with disabilities.which include 100 sewing machines, 40 grinding machines, 200 dignity kits, incense, and cash support of 10,000 Naira each for 60 individuals.
She said the efforts are aimed at enhancing the independence of persons with disabilities and promoting sustainable livelihoods and welfare of persons with disabilities.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Borno State Commissioner for Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Zuwaira Gambo reiterated Borno State Government’s commitment and dedication to support persons with disabilities while acknowledging the leadership and concern of Dr. Falmata Zulum in advancing initiatives for their empowerment.
Goodwill messages from Modu Mustapha Adamu Gaji and Comrade Bulama Abiso, the Executive Director CSOs, North East, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Borno State Government for its efforts in improving the lives of persons with disabilities.
Two beneficiaries, Ahmadu Umar and Mohammed Abubakar, also expressed their appreciation while thanking Dr. Zulum and the Ministry for their substantial support.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Alhaji Mohammed Hamza, in his vote of thanks, appreciated all the stakeholders while expressing confidence that the initiatives would further promote an inclusive society for persons with disabilities in Borno State.
