A group, Alioma Consultative Assembly, has called on Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, to order the immediate arrest and prosecution of James Agena for sponsoring attacks and looting in Egugba Village, sabotaging the state’s peace initiative.
The assembly made the call in a release titled “James Agena Promoting Criminality under the Cover of Effium and Ezza Effium Crisis“.
It noted that Agena’s actions has led to the massacre of Ezza people, including women and children, on June 5, 2025.
“Agena’s actions are a clear attempt to destabilize the peace process,” said High Chief Aligwe Mathias Chukwuma, Chairman of Alioma Consultative Assembly.
“He and his sponsors have resorted to looting and killing innocent people, and it’s imperative that the state government holds him accountable.”
The group accused Agena of sending warlords, led by Monday Odah, to attack Ezza people and loot their properties, claiming that Agena’s motive is to benefit financially from the conflict.
“Having looted all the houses within the urban, Agena took to sending his rogue boys to Ezza villages to continue his looting extravaganza, heinously and mindlessly killing so many innocent aged Ezza people and children,” the release stated.
The Alioma Consultative Assembly urged the state government to rescue the people of the communities and their properties before Agena launches another attack.
“We demand that the state government holds Agena accountable for the unabated criminal operations and the recent genocide in Egugba village,” Dr. Bernard Orichi, Secretary of the Assembly, emphasized.
