The member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly representing Ebonyi North East Constituency, Hon. Mrs. Chinyere Nwogbaga, has once again demonstrated her unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of her constituents.
Through her illustrious Ada Ejieje Mba Charity Foundation, she has generously offered scholarships to physically challenged and indigent students from her constituency.
The beneficiaries, comprising students from Ebonyi State University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, and Uwana Polytechnic, were meticulously selected based on their remarkable academic prowess.
According to Hon. Nwogbaga, the scholarship scheme, which has been in existence for years, aims to empower the teeming youth of her constituency by providing them with the necessary financial support to pursue their educational aspirations.
She revealed that the scheme was inspired by her passion to make a positive impact in the lives of her people and to contribute to the development of the state.
The lawmaker, who was a local government chairman before becoming a member of the state assembly, stated that she was motivated by the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru, to extend the scheme to more students in the hinterlands of her constituency.
She emphasized that education is key to unlocking the potential of the youth and enabling them to become productive members of society.
In her address to the beneficiaries, Hon. Nwogbaga urged them to remain focused and dedicated to their studies, despite the challenges they may face.
She stressed that poverty is not a barrier to success and encouraged them to plan well for their future. The lawmaker also suggested vocational training for indigent students, citing the example of Mr. Ugo Maxwell, a physically challenged student who has become a professional in his field.
The event, which was attended by prominent stakeholders, including the leader of the Ebonyi Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Ifeanyi Ogwuonu, and the APC Chairman in Ebonyi Local Government Area, Mr. Patrick Orogbo, was a testament to the lawmaker’s commitment to the welfare of her people.
The beneficiaries, who each received N100,000, expressed their gratitude to Hon. Nwogbaga and promised to make good use of the scholarship.
