Fake car dealer bags 3 months imprisonment for cheating

Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court on Thursday sentenced a fake car dealer, Isah Haruna to three months imprisonment for N2 million fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Office, charged Haruna with fraud and impersonation.

Delivering judgment, Justice Khobo, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N150,000.

“This sentence is to serve as a deterrent and punishment for the offence he committed knowingly,” the judge held.

Earlier, Counsel to EFCC, E.K. Garba, told the court that Haruna committed the offence in June 2019, in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The prosecutor further stated that the convict operated a fictitious email address with which he defrauded unsuspecting foreigners.

He added that Haruna, who defrauded a foreigner, posed as a vehicle dealer based in the U.S. (NAN)
