Manchester City are now level on points with Arsenal at the top of the Premier League after a hard fought 1-0 win over Burnley, a result that also confirmed Burnley’s relegation.
The game was decided almost straight from kickoff. Erling Haaland struck inside five minutes, finishing off an early move that immediately settled City into control.
From there, it was less about flair and more about discipline. City managed the game, kept things tight, and never really allowed Burnley a clear route back in.
For the hosts, it was a tough one to take. Relegation had been looming, but having it confirmed against City made it sting even more.
There was also a personal angle for Kyle Walker. Facing his former side, he ended up on the losing end on a day that ends with Burnley dropping out of the league. Not the kind of reunion he would have wanted.
Up top, this result shifts things.
City are now level with Arsenal, and even if nothing has changed on paper yet, it changes the feel of the race. Arsenal now know there is no cushion. Any slip and City will be right there.
And this is the stage of the season where City usually do not blink. It may have been a narrow win, but it says a lot.
