Senator Ibrahim Lamido’s Education Trust Fund has kicked off its screening and interview process to provide scholarships to Sokoto indigenes who have been orphaned by banditry and other forms of insecurity.
The beneficiaries will be selected from the 8 local government areas of Sokoto East Senatorial District, which Senator Lamido represents. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to study at Maryam Abacha American University in Kano, as announced by Prof. Shamaki ¹.
The screening exercise, held at the 8 Division Officers’ Mess and suites, aims to identify deserving candidates who have been affected by insecurity, cattle rustling, and other criminal activities in the region. Kabiru Shehu Sarkin Fulani Goronyo, leader of the Senator Lamido Education Trust Fund committee, emphasized that the selection process will prioritize orphans, vulnerable individuals, and homeless victims of insecurity.
According to Sarkin Fulani, the selection process is simply passing the test and no political consideration whatsoever.
“Senator Lamido’s commitment to the development and prosperity of his constituents and humanity is a testament to his resilience and passion for the progress of the people not only Sokoto East Senatorial District but the entire state as many have benefited from his several empowerment and support programmes”
” The screening exercise will last for 3 days within which arrangements would have been completed to enable beneficiaries commence studies in earnest”, he assured.
On his part, a chieftain of APC and former party Chairman of Gwadabawa LGA, Umar Gigane and that of Isa LGA, Abubakar Ali Isa appealed to students from the axis to take advantage of the very rare opportunity and study hard to make their constituent proud.
Lending her voice to the gesture, the Sokoto East Senatorial district Zonal Women Leader of the Senator Ibrahim Lamido Support Group , Hajiya Hauwa’u Muhammed Achida described the Senator as an individual with exceptional love for the progress of his people.
Adding his voice to the development, Prof Mu’azu Shamaki Isa of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto said they will strictly adhere to the criteria which include beneficiary should be orphan, vulnerable.
Recall that, not long ago, Senator Lamido through his Education Trust Fund sponsored no fever than 42 students from Sokoto East Senatorial constituent to study for both Degree and Post Degree programmes in India, in addition to numerous other financial assistance given to students from the axis.
