The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), South-West Zone, has directed its members to boycott the Lekki-Epe corridor from Monday, June 16, 2025.
The directive follows a dispute over the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation’s implementation of the E-Call-up policy, which requires a payment of N12,500.
According to the Chairman of IPMAN’s South-West Zone, Chief Oyewole Akanni, the association had engaged with stakeholders to resolve the issue, but the efforts have yet to yield any results.
“Stakeholders’ engagement to resolve issues in the best interests of its members had yet to yield any results,”* Akanni said.
The association is concerned that the implementation of the E-Call-up policy without proper consultation may lead to intimidation and harassment of its members.
“In view of the aforementioned, and other germane concerns, the association advises all independent marketers to withdraw their depot representatives and truck drivers from the Lekki-Epe corridor,” the statement read.
Akanni assured members that the action was in their best interest, saying, “Please, be assured and guided that this and other actions that might follow are all in the interests of our members and their businesses.”*
NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the boycott is expected to affect the supply of petroleum products in the state, and the association’s action is seen as a strong stance against the government’s policy.
The development has raised concerns about the potential impact on the economy and the general public.
