Kaduna State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing fight against insecurity, neutralising a notorious kidnap kingpin, arresting 16 suspected kidnappers, three alleged gunrunners and recovering several firearms and stolen items within two weeks.
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this during a press briefing, where he highlighted the achievements recorded by the command through intelligence-led operations across the state.
According to him, the operations led to the recovery of 10 firearms of different calibres, 190 solar inverters valued at about N69 million, one stolen vehicle, 83 parcels of hard drugs, 32 stolen mobile phones, two plasma televisions and 410 cattle recovered from rustlers.
The Police Commissioner said the command also arrested six suspects allegedly found in possession of 170 pieces of counterfeit United States dollar notes during an operation carried out on July 21, 2026, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
He explained that a 20-year-old woman, Aisha Barau, of Ramin Kura Village, was arrested while attempting to exchange the suspected fake dollars for Nigerian currency, adding that further investigation led to the arrest of other members of the syndicate.
CP Muhammad said the suspects confessed that the counterfeit currency was supplied by Abdullahi Muhammad, 55, and Danbala Jibrin, 57, both residents of Ramin Kura Village, and that they would be prosecuted after investigations.
The Commissioner further revealed that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested three suspected gunrunners in Jos, Plateau State, on July 25, following credible intelligence on the activities of an arms supply syndicate.
He identified the suspects as Luka Samuel, 38; John Paul, 37; and Musa Elisha, 28, adding that two locally fabricated pistols were recovered from them.
He said preliminary investigations revealed their alleged involvement in supplying arms and ammunition to bandits.
In another operation, police operatives from Anchau Division, working with members of Yan Sa Kai, arrested Abdullahi Mohammed, also known as “Aala”, aged 34, after months of surveillance around Kargi Village.
The suspect, according to the CP, confessed to being involved in several kidnapping operations in Kuzuntu Village, Ikara Local Government Area, and parts of Kano State, while one AK-47 rifle and five rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.
The command also recovered a stolen Toyota Sienna vehicle traced to Zaria following a report of theft from a mosque in Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna. Two suspects, Mohammed Shehu and Zakari Abubakar, were arrested in connection with the crime.
CP Muhammad disclosed that the police successfully repelled an attack by suspected bandits and cattle rustlers on Damanko Village in Zaria Local Government Area, recovering 80 cattle and 10 sheep earlier rustled by the criminals.
He added that two livestock owners sustained gunshot injuries during the attack but were rescued and taken to a medical facility where they are receiving treatment.
The Police Commissioner also confirmed the recovery of 190 solar inverters and 10 lithium batteries from a suspected stolen goods storage facility in Zaria, while two suspects were arrested for allegedly supplying hard drugs to bandits operating around Kasuwar Magani.
CP Rabiu Muhammad commended the dedication and professionalism of police personnel involved in the operations, stressing that the command would continue to collaborate with other security agencies, including the military, DSS, NSCDC and vigilante groups, to make Kaduna safer for residents.
He urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, assuring residents that the command remained committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring lasting peace across the state.
