Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, on Thursday commissioned the newly completed Zawiyya–Unguwar Maidaji–Gwangwan Dikko Road in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State as part of activities marking the third anniversary of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration.
The 14.5-kilometre road project, executed at a cost of N4.53 billion, is one of the infrastructure projects delivered under Governor Aliyu’s 9-Point Smart Innovative Agenda.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Idris commended Governor Aliyu for his commitment to infrastructure development and good governance, noting that the projects being executed across Sokoto State reflect a deliberate effort to improve the lives of the people.
He said governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) remain committed to initiating and completing projects that deliver tangible benefits to citizens.
Residents of the benefiting communities expressed delight over the completion of the road, saying it would enhance economic activities, improve transportation and strengthen connectivity between neighbouring communities.
Following the commissioning, Governor Idris also flagged off the construction of the 7.5-kilometre Kajiji–Sanyinnawal Road and the 13.5-kilometre Madera–Darin Guru–Jabo Road in Shagari Local Government Area.
Addressing stakeholders at the flag-off ceremony, the Kebbi governor said the invitation to perform the official assignments in Sokoto would further strengthen the long-standing relationship between the two neighbouring states.
He also urged Governor Aliyu to sustain the pace of delivering people-centred projects, expressing confidence that the administration’s performance would continue to earn public support.
Earlier, Governor Ahmed Aliyu thanked his Kebbi State counterpart for honouring the invitation despite the short notice, describing the gesture as a demonstration of the cordial relationship between Sokoto and Kebbi states.
The Sokoto governor also acknowledged the continued support of development partners, saying their contributions have remained critical to the state’s development efforts.
He further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as credible leadership and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the President’s people-oriented programmes and policies.
