Kogi State Police Command on Sunday said sustained joint operations involving the police and the military have recorded major breakthroughs against banditry across forested areas of the state, with scores of criminal elements neutralised and their networks dismantled.
A statement signed on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP William Ovye Aya, confirmed that the ongoing security onslaught, supported by the Nigeria Police Force Airwing, has successfully flushed bandits out of their hideouts and disrupted their operational structures.
According to the police, the coordinated exercise is being executed “with vigor, commitment, and utmost professionalism,” combining ground forces with precision air support from the Police Airwing, a strategy that has significantly weakened criminal activities in affected locations.
The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and assist security agencies by promptly reporting individuals spotted with gunshot wounds, visible injuries, or suspicious behaviour, stressing that such information could be critical to ongoing investigations.
“The public are urged to support the ongoing operations with credible information about criminal elements seen around the neighborhood,” the statement said, noting that security remains a collective responsibility. “Together we can make Nigeria better.”
To enhance public participation, the Police Command provided dedicated emergency lines for timely information sharing: 07038329084 and 08152195982.
Residents have been assured that the joint security forces will sustain the momentum of the operations until criminal elements are completely dislodged and lasting peace restored across the state.
