About 500 members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) from Fagge and Ungogo Local Government Areas of Kano State have dumped their party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors were formally received on Wednesday by the Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin Development Authority, Rabiu Bichi, who described their decision as a clear sign of growing trust in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the APC’s development-driven vision.
Bichi noted that the party’s progressive and people-focused policies continue to attract Nigerians from across political divides, adding that the recent defection of some governors to the APC further underscores its increasing appeal.
He assured the new members of full integration into the party, pledging that “no one will be marginalised or left behind.”
Highlighting the government’s strides in food security and economic growth, Bichi explained that the Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin’s modern irrigation projects were designed to support Tinubu’s agricultural agenda.
Former APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who was represented by the Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, welcomed the new entrants and praised their decision to align with a party “committed to Nigeria’s progress.”
Similarly, the Kano Central APC Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Ungogo, said Tinubu’s economic policies had helped to stabilise the economy and restore public confidence in the ruling party.
The defectors explained that they were drawn to the APC by its developmental achievements and commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
