It was jubilation unlimited Friday January 12th,2024 in Bauchi metropolis as news of Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s victory filtered in the state capital through the waves.

Governor Bala Mohammed, a known protagonist of Doctrine of Necessity, and an elected sitting Governor of Bauchi State, was dragged before Nigeria’s apex court by Abubakar Baba Sadiq, a retired Air Marshall, and a governorship flag bearer of All Progressive Congress (APC).

The retired Air Force boss had taken Sen. Mohammed to Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, citing several irregularities, that were set aside by the Tribunal. Not satisfied by what the did, he approached Appeal Court. Abubakar, again, was not done and moved to the Nigeria’s Supreme Court, for right justice.

However, on Friday, January 12, 2024, the Supreme Court, threw all the 6 points the APC prince relied on in search of justice out, for lack of merit.

In Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, who won the Governorship on Peoples Democratic Part (PDP) ticket in 2019, and 2023, was being celebrated by Bauchi people across political party divide, especially beneficiaries of his regime’ projects, programmes and policies.

According to Hajiya Ummi Danladi, “I’m still a member of APC but I have benefitted a lot from Bala’s projects”.

Sabo Alkali Husseini, agreed saying: ” I’m not a PDP member, but Sen. Bala has changed and is still changing infra structural narratives in Bauchi, and all I know is that politics is all about uplifting peoples lives, and the governor on the right part”.

It will be recalled that Bala Mohammed, a journalist turned politician has never really failed in his political challenges. In 2007, partnering with then Gov. Isa Yuguda beat Ahmed Adamu Mua’zu, who was leaving Bauchi Govt. House for Bauchi South Senate slot.

From the Senate, Bala was appointed FCT Minister for 6 years. In 2019, he won Bauchi Governorship beating incumbent, Abubakar Abdullah Mohammed.

His victory was trailed by litigation which sailed through. In 2023 his victory has been challenged from Tribunal to Supreme Court, which he also won.

As the victory celebrations continue, our North East anchorman, Austine Tsenzughul will be updating you as the victory is being celebrated in Bauchi rural areas, where Bala is stamping his footmarks.
