Two Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) witnesses have testified in the trial of former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello, and two others, accused of N110.4 billion fraud.
The witnesses told the Abuja High Court that none of the defendants paid money into their company account.
The first witness, Fabian Nwora, Chairman of Efab Property, testified that the former governor’s name did not feature in the transaction.
“I know the former governor. His name did not feature in the transaction referred to,” he said.
Nwora stated that he opened negotiations on the said property, but the deal was concluded by Segun Adeleke, the second witness.
Adeleke testified that the deal was concluded, and N500 million was paid for the property. However, Bello later returned to their office, stating he was no longer interested in the property due to EFCC investigation.
“He told me that he was no longer interested in the property as a result of EFCC investigation,” Adeleke said.
The court also saw documents related to a property in Gwarinpa, which the witness confirmed were issued to one Nuhu Muhammed after he purchased a unit of the detached bungalows.
The defense counsel objected to the documents being tendered, but the prosecution argued that the objection was misconceived, and the judge overruled it.
The case has been adjourned until July 8 for hearing of an application and October 8, 2025, for continuation of hearing.
