NAOWA pledges to build 6 classroom blocks, 2 offices in Sokoto Giginya Barracks

The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) led by its president, Mrs Salamatu Faruku Yahaya, has said the association would construct a block of six classroom with two offices to help encourage education of officers’ children at the Sokoto Giginya Barracks.

Mrs Salamtu, who is the wife of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. General Faruku Yahaya, made this disclosure during a courtesy visit to Governor Aminu Tambuwal at the Sokoto State Government House.

While stressing that NAOWA is a non profit organization that has touched so many lives positively in the barracks, Mrs Faruku thanked Governor Tambuwal for building blocks of classrooms at the Army school in Giginya barracks.

She, further, disclosed that it was a home coming for her, since she was once lectured at Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto and gave birth to three of her children in Sokoto as well.

Reacting to the visit, Gov. Tambuwal said he is happy to receive the wife of the COAS and her entourage who coincidentally happened to be an August visitors.

“All of us are welcoming you home. We all celebrated the appointment of the COAS by President Muhammadu Buhari not because he is our own but because Lt Gen Faruku Yahaya equally merited it”.

Disclosing how they recieved the news of the appointment of COAS with satisfaction, Tambuwal said, “We went into prayers for him to succeed, knowing the security challenges we are faced with. We pray for him to liberate all of us from the forces that this great country is faced with”.

“We can see successes being recorded already through the surrender of members of the Boko Haram terrorists group in the North East”.

“We have suported NOWA before and we will continue to do so. I wil appeal to all governors of Nigeria to support your tenure for effective service delivery”. Tambuwal assured.
