Nasarawa State Government and Bobtract Tractor Limited, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to establish a tractor assembly plant in the state.
This development was made known to journalists via a statement signed by Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs in Lafia, Thursday.
According to the statement, the signing ceremony was held in Abuja, today Thursday and witnessed by Gov. Abdullahi A. Sule.
“The partnership aims to enable the Company make use of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI)’s facilities in Lafia to assemble tractors, provide affordable and high-quality tractors to farmers in the state, enhance agricultural productivity and mechanization as well as create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the state, among others”
“Signing of the MoU marks another significant milestone in the state government’s efforts to attract investors in the state, transform the agricultural sector and promote economic development” he said.
He said the Governor, had expressed delight at the partnership, which is inline with the state’s agricultural development strategy and vision to make the state a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria.
“The Governor had earlier facilitated an agreement entered into between NASENI and the Bobtract Tractors to use the agency’s facilities in Lafia for the purpose of assembling tractors”
“The company is expected to roll out its first set of tractors within 120 days in the first instance” the statement concludes.
