Osun State Police Command has confirmed the death of 3 persons in a suspected cult clash involving members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternity in the Imo area of Ilesa, Osun State.
Police Public Relations Officer, Osun State Command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Osogbo.
DSP Ojelabi said the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Monday.
He said four expended cartridges and two Android mobile phones were recovered from the scene, while preliminary investigations have commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings and identify those responsible.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the 2026 Osun Governorship Election, Samuel Etaifo has directed the immediate deployment of the Violence Crime Response Unit and other tactical operatives to the area to prevent further escalation and possible reprisal attacks.
He said the Command has intensified patrols, surveillance and intelligence-led operations in Ilesa and adjoining areas, while warning suspected cult members and other criminal elements against further violence.
