Vice President Kashim Shettima is using his ongoing two-week leave to focus on reading, reflection and personal development, underscoring his belief in continuous learning as a key ingredient of effective leadership.
According to a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President has devoted the break to studying and reflecting on ideas that can strengthen his capacity to serve the nation more effectively when he resumes official duties.
The period away from the demands of daily governance is described as an opportunity to carefully examine new perspectives, recharge intellectually and return to work with renewed clarity and purpose.
The statement noted that leadership requires a commitment to lifelong learning, stressing that taking time to study remains essential even for those occupying the highest public offices.
It added that the leave provides Shettima with the opportunity to deepen the knowledge and insight needed to continue serving Nigeria effectively.
“Leadership is sustained by the willingness to keep learning. Sometimes, stepping away from the daily rush creates the space to examine ideas more carefully and return to responsibility with greater clarity.”
The statement further emphasised that learning becomes even more important as public responsibility increases.
“Learning does not end when responsibility begins. In many ways, greater responsibility makes learning even more necessary.”
