Police arrest suspected bandits, cattle rustlers in Niger

Operatives from the Niger State Police Command have arrested four suspected kidnappers and other suspects for rustling cattle in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Wasiu Abiodun, made the disclosure in a statement issued in Minna on Monday.

DSP Abiodun, said police operatives arrested one Umar Samaila of Gussasu village via Maikunkele, Bosso Local Government Area who confessed to being the spiritual leader of bandits hibernating in Niger, Abuja and Nasarawa states.

He stated that the suspect would be taken to the FCT command of the police in Abuja for further investigation.

Similarly the police arrested other suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers on Nov. 16 at Maijaki Forest via Lapai in Niger and Rafindaji Forest at the boundary between Niger and the FCT.

Abiodun stated that at Lapai, four suspects were arrested and 40 cows and 15 sheep, all rustled were found in their possession.

The police spokesman said the suspects would be arraigned soon.
