Police confirm 4 killed, one kidnapped during attack in Bauchi community

The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that an attack on Gambar Sabon layi village, in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state, has left four people dead.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, said one person was injured during the attack.

SP Wakil said that one person was kidnapped during the incident which he said, occurred at 2.00am on Saturday.

He said: “A distress call which was received by the Command on the 22nd January 2022 at about 3.45am, indicated that on the same date at about 2.00am, some unknown gunmen invaded Gambar Sabon layi village and attacked innocent residents.

“On receiving the report, detectives of the Command were drafted to the scene led by the DPO, Tafawa Balewa Divisional Police Headquarters.

“They evacuated the victims to the Tafawa Balewa General Hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, four victims were certified dead by the medical doctor, while one person sustained various degrees of injury during the attack.

“Similarly, one person was confirmed to have been kidnapped to an unknown destination by the assailants,” he said.

According to Wakil, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Aminu Alhassan, has directed that a discreet investigation be carried out in earnest to arrest the perpetrators of this dastardly act and make them face the wrath of the law.
