The Bauchi State Police Command have said that a Joint Task Force comprising of the Police and a vigilante group, Danga security, on March 30th, while on patrol at a forest in Alkaleri LGA, had an encounter with dangerously armed bandits and kidnappers.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Abiodun Sylvester Alabi disclosed this on Friday while parading other crime suspects before journalists at the Command’s Headquarters.
CP Alabi, said that the Joint Task Force engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, two of the bandits whose identity is still unknown were killed in the process.
According to him: “On Tuesday 30th March, 2021 at about 6pm, our Joint Task Force Operatives in collaboration with Danga Security personnel while on patrol along riga forest base 1 at Duguri Gwana area of Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA), ran into an assembly of some dangerously armed bandits and Kidnappers, notoriously known for terrorizing the Duguri Area”.
“This encounter resulted to a heavy gun battle between our men and the criminals which led to the killing of two of the unknown armed bandits, while others escaped with bullet wounds,” he stated.
He said that an AK-47 rifle with beach number 357843, a locally made single barrel gun, 16 live ammunitions of 7.62mm caliber, two cutlasses and a knife were some of the exhibits recovered from the scene.
He added that other items recovered from the suspects are two motorcycles with registration NO. TRN 762 QP and KEY 322 QL, large catches of Bow and Arrows, one Techno handset and substantial quantity of a certain substance suspected to be cannabis.
Similarly, CP Alabi told journalists that in furtherance of the Command’s efforts to maintain policing standards across all nooks and crannies of the State, on Thursday 25th March, 2021 a team of Detectives attached to Area Command Metro in collaboration with the members of peace and security committee Bauchi State, arrested a group of suspected Armed Robbers, House Trespassers and Phone Snatchers all of who are known for their bad deeds.
He said that the suspects arrested in connection to the aforementioned crime are: Abdullahi Hashim alias ‘Ranga,’ Male, (20) of Zango Bauchi, Shuaibu Nasir Alias ‘Baba cizo’ also of Zango Bauchi.
Others, according to him, are Ahmed Abdulahi Alias ‘Mission’ of Nasarawa area, Al-amin Dahiru alias ‘Target’ of Jahun, Mohammed Ismail alias ‘K2’ of Federal Low-cost and
Aliyu Adamu alias ‘Daba’ of Jahun, all in Bauchi.
The Police boss said that six suspects conspired with: Bajau of Jahun, Abban Gola of Jahun, Abbas Messi of Zango, Abba Kyari of Jahun, Mayen Kudi of Anguwar Kur, Ambulo of Anguwar Kur, Ebison of Jahun, all in Bauchi metropolis, while Passion of Anguwar Kur in Bauchi, still at large, criminally armed themselves with dangerous weapons, notably machetes and knives, broke into houses at Zango.
He said that they attacked the occupants and robbed them of some valuable items which includes Phones, Laptops, Motorcycles, Plasma Televisions, and Jewelry all of which valued about NGN3,159,000,00 adding that his is in addition to a cash sum of NGN290,000 which they carted away.
CP Alabi stated that Upon receipt of the case, our team of detectives swung into action and eventually arrested two among the receivers and recovered the following four Plasma TVs, LG DVD, one receiver, one Samsung Laptop, three Android phones and one Digital camera as exhibits.
He said that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to have committed the crime pointing out that “it is noteworthy that the crime enumerated above amounts to criminal conspiracy, house trespass, burglary and armed robbery for which suspects mentioned above will be charged to court accordingly.”
