In a chilling discovery, the Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a motorcyclist (okada rider), Kadir Owolabi, allegedly caught with three human skulls during a routine patrol.
The arrest has sparked a deeper investigation into a potential network of criminal activity in the region.
According to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred on Monday at 2:00 p.m. along the Ijebu Ode-Ibadan Expressway near Refugees Camp Junction, Oru Ijebu. Officers from the 71 PMF unit conducted a stop-and-search operation, during which they uncovered the gruesome contents of Owolabi’s luggage.
“A thorough search revealed three human skulls in the suspect’s possession,” Odutola disclosed in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Following the initial arrest, authorities detained a second suspect, 53-year-old Jamiu Yisa, near the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.
“This arrest is a critical step in unraveling the circumstances behind this disturbing find,” Odutola added.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a comprehensive probe into the case.
The police have reaffirmed their resolve to combat crime, with Odutola stating, “The command remains steadfast in its mission to ensure safety and security across Ogun State.”
Police authorities are urging the public to provide any relevant information, assuring residents of confidentiality and protection.
The investigation continues as police work to uncover the origins of the skulls and any potential links to broader criminal activities.
