Ahead of the 2023 governorship election in Sokoto State, a coalition of 25 separate groups in the state has purchased and presented a governorship form for Hon Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa.

The presentation which was coordinated under the umbrella of Bafarawa Action Group, was part of their quest for ensuring continuity of the younger generation in governance of the state.

One of the leader of the groups, who spoke before the presentation, Almustapha Sarkin Baki said, associations of market women, youths, farmers, traders, artisans and all concerned citizens of Sokoto State saw the cherished leadership qualities in Sagir Bafarawa hence the resolve to support their call on him to contest through the purchase of form.

Another speaker at the event, Alhaji Nura Fatihu said Sagir Bafarawa falls within the class of younger breeds, which was the reason behind massive support from all and sundry to his candidature.

“We know where Sagir Bafarawa is coming from. We know his parents laid foundation for prosperous Sokoto’s. We know that the present governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is continuing with that legacies and we want Sagir Bafarawa to come and continue from where Tambuwal will stop”.

Speaking for Sokoto’s married women, the state leader, Hajiya Hajara Musa insisted that they are fully ready to mobilize their wards for Sagir Bafarawa come 2023.

An ex official and former NEC member of the PDP, Hon Abubakar Sadiq Sayyinna, said its a welcome development that about 25 diverse organizations have resolved to come together and purchase the governorship nomination form for Hon Sagir Bafarawa who is luckily in his late 30s.

Analyzing the age as an advantage for Sagir Bafarawa, Hon Sayyinna assured that, he is very convinced that Sagir will perform more than the father considering his youthfulness.

Reacting to the gesture, Hon Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa said, only God ordains leaders. “No one can force Him, He does it at his own will and to whom it pleases Him to give”.

Continuing Bafarawa said, “Before now, so many people have called me to come and contest. I was reluctant but now the youths in Sokoto have demonstrated true love to me by contributing their own monies and going to purchase the governorship form for me from Abuja”.

“My greatest surprise is also the fact that, they have come again on their own to appeal to me to accept their position to contest for governorship come 2023.

“The youths have said to me that they want someone that is from Tambuwal’s cabinet for continuity. And in response to their calls, last week we went to the State PDP office to notify them that this is the people’s aspiration towards us”.

Hon. Bafarawa, however reminded his supporters that they should strive to play politics with love for each other.

“Politics is not a do or die affair. We are loyal party members and we will continue to abide by the party’s decisions at all times”. Bafarawa noted.
