Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has called on opposition parties in the state to join hands with him towards developing the state.

“‘We have no state other than Sokoto. It is all our collective responsibility to make Sokoto better. Hence I am calling on all oppositions party members to accept the verdict as Allah’s decision”

This call according to governor has become imperative following the Supreme Court’s judgement that upheld his electoral victory.

Analysing the implication of the Supreme Court verdict, governor Ahmed Aliyu said: “‘2023 is done and dusted as it is all over. Now let’s get ready for 2027 as it’s no longer far from now””.

The governor, who spoke during a well attended reception organized by Sokoto people to welcome him, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and other APC stalwarts after the Supreme Court verdict, further dedicated the victory to Almighty Allah, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and the entire good people of the state.

Addressing mammoth crowd that gathered at the residence of Senator Wamakko in honour of their triumphant return to the state, the governor said he was surprised that despite people of the state voted massively for the APC, the PDP went ahead to approach the Courts to upturn the wish and will of the people.

Recall that, after the general election in 2023, opposition PDP dissatisfied with the outcome approached governorship election petition Tribunal, where our victory which is the victory of the people was upheld.

“Still not comfortable with that decision, the PDP approached the Appeal Court and same judgement was upheld.

“The PDP in the quest to exercise all available legal dimensions, went to the Supreme Court which is the last resort, and yet God confirmed our victory as you willingly gave us your mandate in the 2023 polls”.

While congratulating the lawyers that stood in defence of their victory from Tribunal, Appeal Court down to the Supreme Court, Governor Aliyu further appreciated the Supreme Court Justices for upholding the truth.

Speaking earlier, Senator Wamakko said he lacks words to thank the people of the state for their continued confidence in their party.

He also assured that Governor Aliyu will not disappoint the state, adding that they can begin to judge from the giant developmental projects completed and ongoing across the state.
