Nigerian Army troops on patrol
In a series of relentless operations from August 23 to August 30, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) eliminated over 20 terrorists, apprehended multiple collaborators, and seized significant arms caches across North East Nigeria.
A military source, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), revealed that the coordinated offensives targeted terrorist strongholds in Gujba, Gubio, Sabsawa, Whumtakum, Mandarari, Gajigana, Konduga, Banki, and Loskori Kura in Borno and Yobe States.
“The operations were bolstered by the Air Component and local security outfits,” the source disclosed, emphasizing the collaborative effort.
Troops recovered an array of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, Rocket-Propelled Grenade tubes, bombs, and hundreds of 7.62mm rounds, alongside substantial logistics supplies.
“They also safely detonated Improvised Explosive Devices during clearance operations,” the source added.
A significant blow to terrorist operations came with the interception of 242 bags of NPK fertiliser, a key ingredient often used by insurgents to manufacture Improvised Explosive Devices.
“The offensives disrupted insurgent supply chains, denying terrorists freedom of action and enabling safer socio-economic activities in the region,” the source noted.
The military high command praised the troops’ determination and professionalism, with the source stating, “The high command commended the troops for their resilience and assured them of sustained support to consolidate gains in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations.”
These efforts mark a significant step in weakening terrorist networks and restoring stability in the North East.
